Press ReleasesPress Release - Play Cuban Charm This is Havana - but not as we know it! Siren Enterprises Productions have pulled together a new 'filmatrical' experience to take theatre to the next dimension. Producer/ Writer Penny Downes who heads up film marketing agency 'Siren Enterprises Limited' by day says, 'Cuban Charm, uses real film footage from Havana as a stunning backdrop to the rollercoaster action. It's something totally different. If you haven't been to Havana, this is the next best thing.' The central controversial themes of 'sex' and 'socialism' are likely to incite controversy. The sole central character is not shy in her exploration of these themes. The people of Cuba are in a unique situation and the play illustrates their plight and the dual viewpoints concerning socialism and its impact in real terms. The story follows a London city power broker as she escapes the world of capitalism on a seemingly innocent trip to Cuba. Her journey transcends the superficial stereotype of Cuban cigars, salsa, rum and machismo to get under the skin of the system and to the heart of the people. Director Leon Herbert says 'I am expecting to get heckled. Everyone's got a political opinion and you can't please all of the people all of the time. We are trying to show both sides of the coin without sitting on the fence. We have a big Cuban following already and most of them have been impressed at 'how real' this play is.' As modern audiences are hankering for all their senses to be stimulated, the Friday performance is an experiment in film, theatre and an excuse for a great party. Post the show, in the lounge, we have orginal Cuban DJ Olivera, rocking with all the latest sounds from the barrio, from salsa, to danzon to reggaeton. Market leaders in VJ'ing, Triggerset have cut an additional thrity hours of footage of Havana down to a two and a half hour set that will give viewers in the theatre a further 'fastrack trip to Cuba'. This collective are pioneering the revolution in video jockeying by driving this medium up and out of the underground to give it the credit it deserves as a refined art form. Their set will add a new dimension to the whole experience. The future of theatre entertainment is here and the production team are already using this blueprint to develop their next show which has an Egyptian theme. Contact: Penny Downes |
